Water Lily Tilda

Hi everyone, at last a card for fun. I made it back to work, and I'm there everyday from 9am till 1, as I'm on graduated return, and then I pick the kids up at 3 so I've been using my little bit of spare time to get ahead with my DT cards. Today I should be working 1-9, but being on graduated return I'm doing 5-9 so I've had some time to potter round. I've managed to get a DT card, a GDT card and this card done and I've really enjoyed my little self, lol.

I've made this card for the Summer Holiday and sketch challenge at TOMIC, I've added a swirl doohickey so it fits in with the Swirl challenge at Deep Ocean Challenge and I've also followed the middle line down in the Bingo challenge at Wild Orchid Challenge this being blue, flowers and glitter.

I've coloured Water Lily Tilda with Distress Markers. The papers are from Maja design, again and the inside has been decorated to match the front. The lace and ribbon are from The Ribbon Girl and the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts. There's a doohickey tag and the charm is from a friend. The flowers have stickles on, and I've used silver glitter and glamour dust on the image.

That's it from me, the tea is almost done just in time for me to eat it before I go and do my little 4 hour shift, I've got a 6 hour shift on Monday and that's me till a week on Monday when the kids go back to school.

Tilda With Peony

Wednesday again, and time once again for a challenge over at Midweek Magnolias, this week we want to see your card with bling on.

I've coloured Tilda in with Distress Markers, and used a fancy rectangle nestie to cut her out. The bling swirl, edges and corners are from The Ribbon Girl, and so is the lace.

The inside has been decorated to match the front, I've used Bildmalarna paper and distressed the edges with Bundled Sage.

Pop over to Midweek Magnolias and Bling it on!

Sketch

Hi again,

It's time for another challenge at Lovely hAnglar only or Sweet Magnolia and this time we have a gorgeous sketch from Nicolet.

I've coloured this cutie in with Distress Ink Markers, it took me a while to use them but, I have to say I am impressed. The papers are from K&Co. I found that gorgeous lace in a box, and I can't find where it's from.

Here's the sketch from Nicolet, it's one that I'm keeping too, I love it.

Once again I've decorated the inside to complement the front. The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts. The sentiment is from Lili of The Valley, I must admit I tend to struggle to fit a sentiment on, but I recently got a few A5 sheets of sentiments from LOTV and they're so easy to fit onto cards.

I've used spellbinder ovals, and doohickey border die. Pop over to Lovely hAnglar Only or Sweet Magnolia, the girls have come up with some great inspiration, we can't wait to see your take on the sketch and remember you can also use your Magnolia stamps too.

Totally Tilda Blog Hop Midway Reminder

Hi everyone,

Have you had fun hopping round all of the DT girls creations, they're all stunning, don't you agree??

My Totally Tilda blog hop post is here.

Here's my card for the midway reminder. Normally being Totally Tilda we only want to see cards with Tilda on, but for this challenge of Baby Cards ANY Magnolia baby image is OK. I've coloured Baby Edwin in with Distress Ink Markers, I've got a mini tutorial here on how I use them.

The paper is from Nitwit Collections, I've decorated the inside to complement the front. The edges have all been sewn with that amazing Top Stitch Thread from The Ribbon Girl. The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the charm I picked up off eBay.

Pop over to Totally Tilda and have a look at the other fab work the DT have come up with, you've still got a week left for the blog hop and to create your Magnolia Baby card.

I'm also entering this card into the Anything Goes Challenge at Bunny Zoes Crafts Challenge and the Squares challenge at Magnolia Stamp Lovers.

Chic And Romantic

Humpday again, and to brighten it up we have a new challenge over at Midweek Magnolias, and this week we want to see your Chic and Romantic cards.

I've coloured Romantic Tilda in with Distress Markers, I'm loving these. They're a dream to colour with, and I just love the effect they give. I've followed the sketch over at Sketch Saturday and I'm also entering in the last ever challenge at Paper Sundaes.

The inside has been decorated to complement the front of the card. I've used Magnolia paper and distressed the edges with Victorian Velvet. The lace and the taffeta are both from the Ribbon Girl.

The flowers are from Wild Orchid, and they've been covered in stickles. I've used a Martha Stewart punch for the leaves.

I've used chalk and a template for the clouds, and added glamour dust here and there. Pop over to Midweek Magnolias and have a look at the simply gorgeous creations the girls have made.

I Need Your Help

Hi everyone, I've just found out that I'm in the top 5 at Fashionista Challenge with this card,

They run things a bit differently over there, the DT choose the top 5 and then we get to vote for the overall winner. So, I'm asking for your vote, please. Just click here and it'll take you to the post, scroll down and click on 'vote' under your favourite. There's also a prize for a voter who leaves a comment too.

I made this card for my hubby for our anniversary, so quite unusually one of my cards are actually sat on my mantelpiece. He loved it, although I was too poorly to do any sort of printed insert and he did comment, lol. We went out for a lovely meal, but me being loaded with cold meant that we came home early.

Please pop over and vote for me, see told you I needed your help :)

Hugs,

Totally Tilda Blog Hop

Hello everyone, Totally Tilda has been going for two years and to celebrate we're having a blog hop!!

There are three great prizes up for grabs, but be sure to go to every girl on the hop and leave a comment, and comment on the main blog as we have surprises along the way.

The fab prizes from the Totally Tilda blog are;
£10.00 Gift Voucher
2 Surprise Magnolia Stamps

The order of the hop is the order in which our cards are on the Totally Tilda blog, so you should have come to me from the lovely Alli's blog, if you have you're in the right place, if not please go back to the Totally Tilda challenge blog and start from there. Once you've left me a comment you need to pop over to my fab teamie Clare's blog and have a look at her fabulous creation.

The blog hop will run for the next two weeks alongside the current challenge of Baby card, where you can use any Magnolia Baby, so there is plenty of time for you to get round all the DT blogs and leave your lovely comments!

Thanks for taking part and I hope you have fun.

I picked this cutie up off ebay ages ago, but it's been used for quite a few baby cards, I think it's just a little bit different. I've coloured her in with distress inks, added glitter to the wings and popped glossy accents on the bubbles.

These gorgeous papers are from Raspberry Road Designs, I like to print them out on A5 as I like the patterns to be that little bit ditsier. The edges have been distressed with Walnut Stain. The flowers, pearls and seam binding are all from Wild Orchid Crafts.

The bubbles didn't quite fit into my nestie, so I cut them out so that they would hang over.
Hope you have fun on the Totally Tilda blog hop, remember to leave comments along the way as there are surprise candy, but we're not saying where!!

And We're Off!

Hi everyone,

At last the first ever Tilda's Town Challenges, and for our first week Anything Goes. As we're such a big DT we've been split into two teams,

Team A:

Team B:

Here's my card,

I've had this Tim Holtz on the edge die for ages and I've only just got round to using it, but I will be using it a lot more often-I'm so pleased at how it has turned out. I've used Magnolia papers from the latest release, and inked the edges up with Walnut Stain distress ink.
The inside has been decorated to coordinate with the front.

Here's what the card looks like closed. There's a doohickey tag behind the picture. The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts, and the lace is from the Ribbon Girl.

Here's the inside, I've used a Stempelglede stamp and used my distress ink markers to colour it in before I stamped it.

I've coloured Tilda With Winding Flowers in with Distress Ink Markers, I'm loving these now. Although I find the frayed burlap is a touch on the green side so I use my reinkers for this for her hair. I've covered the flowers on glamour dust and gold stickles, I've also used liquid pearls.

I'm entering this into the anything goes challenge at Wild Orchid Challenge.
Pop over to Tilda's Town Challenges and have a look at the gorgeous inspiration that awaits you. Don't forget to follow the blog by e-mail and never miss a post. We're looking forward to seeing your creations.

More Great News

Hello everyone, and a massive hello to all of my new followers. I'm touched that people take the time to look at my creations, I enjoy colouring and putting my cards together, and knowing that others like looking at them too makes me feel a little bit special. I really appreciate the comments too. After my picture and writing tutorial on distress markers I think I am going to make a video, so watch this space.....

I made it back to work yesterday, even though the niggling cold became a full blown one to wake up to, I'm just home from my second day, and it's like I've never been away. But, when I sat down to read my e-mails with a cuppa yesterday I had one from Mary and Andrea aka The Ribbon Girls asking if I would like to join their DT. After I read it for the second time I immediately replied YES!! And did a little dance on my chair, lol. That made my first day back a little sweeter.

I buy loads of bits and bobs from them, The Ribbon Girl has amazing ribbon, lace, pins, buttons, the list is endless and they try to keep the P&P as low as possible so if you only want (or need) a few things you're not going to get stung.

To welcome all of us new DT members they're having a give away of this amazing candy, just pop over to the The Ribbongirls, become a follower, leave a comment and random org will draw a winner on Sunday 20th May.
The Ribbon Girl Challenge is changing it's structure, there's going to be a card challenge on the first Sunday of the month and a colour challenge on the third Sunday. I'm so excited to be part of such a talented team of crafters.

But, I'm now off to bed, as I said earlier this cold has taken a massive hold so I've popped some pills had a coffee and choccie biscuits (I heard once that caffeine and sugar help the tablets get absorbed quicker, I don't know how true it is, but a cuppa and a choccie biccie always cheer me up slightly). I've got my alarm set to pick the kids up, and hopefully I'll feel a little brighter as hubby and I are out for our 4th Wedding Anniversary tonight.

Flip Flop Tilda

Hi everyone,

Wednesday again, so that means another challenge at Midweek Magnolias, and this week we want to see a big white space. I must admit I found this a bit daunting, but as I've said before challenges are supposed to be challenging, lol. In the end I opted to have a bit of DP around the edge, and a large plain embossed area in the middle.

I've coloured Flip Flop Tilda with distress inks, I don't think there's a Tilda in this collection that I don't like. Mind you, I think she's getting a bit risque in her old age, her skirts are getting shorter, look how much thigh she's showing here, lol.

The paper is from Magnolia, the inside of the card has been decorated to match the front. The flowers and seam binding are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Pop over to Midweek Magnolias and have a look at the truly amazing creations the girls have come up with.

Distress Ink Marker Tutorial

Hi everyone, no card from me today, I think I out did myself yesterday, lol. I sat down to colour some images in and thought I'd do a sort of tutorial for colouring with the Ink Markers.

I appreciate that this probably would have been better as a video but, one I'm not very technologically minded, and I think I may be able to do the video OK, I'd get stumped on the uploading bit. Secondly, I'm from Hartlepool, a little town on the North East coast of England, about 30 miles south of Newcastle, but our accent does not have that twang, personally I think we have one of the horriblest accents and I'd cringe at the thought of my voice being out there, so it's pictures and writing from me.

I don't pretend to be perfect, and this is just the way that I colour. If it wasn't for other talented ladies putting together tutorials, videos and answering my questions I'd not be able to colour in at all, so first off I want to say thank you to them.

It took me a while to get started with the markers, I've used the inks for a few months, and I liked the smooth, relative whiteness of Hot Press paper, but when I've investigated the HP paper absorbs quicker, and I was finding this to be my problem, the ink was soaking in before I had time to blend. So, I bought some Canson Montval NOT (i.e. cold pressed) paper and wow, I am impressed.

I'm sorry, but this is a little photo heavy, I've tried to keep it to a minimum.

I've stamped Tilda with Daisy using Archival Coffee.

Go round the edge using Tattered Rose.

Then blend to the centre using a circular motion.

As the ink sits more on this paper, I find it better to do all of the skin or the paper tends to bobble.

Go round her hair line with the fine point of the Vintage Photo distress pen.

And any other bits that will be in shadow. Take your brush and using small circular motions, with a almost dry brush pull the colour out.

Then go round with tattered rose again, and blend to the centre, with circular motions using an almost dry brush.

I use Antique Linen as a base for her hair, start by going round the parts of her hair that will be darker.

Then, once again blend. I've also done her socks.

I've now started on her dress. Put the colour down on the areas that you want to be darker, I've used Weathered Wood, and then blend out. Don't worry about the shadows not being dark enough, this is only the first coat.

Blend using circular motions. I tend to work in sections.

The first coat of her dress.

Her bow is done, also in Weathered Wood. Her shoes have been done in Pumice Stone, and the daisy is Forest Moss, Old Paper and Wild Honey.

I like to use Frayed Burlap for the middle colour of her hair, I've used reinkers for this as I find the marker is quite a green colour and it just doesn't look right.

I now add more contrast, basically I go over the same areas I went over before, but I use smaller circles to blend, and don't blend all of the way out. So the lighter bits aren't getting any more colour on, but the shadow parts are. For fine detail, like the creases I use the fine end of the pen.

I've used the fine end of the Walnut Stain marker to add the third layer to her hair. Also, in the darker shadows I've put the smallest amount of black and gently blended in, just for a bit more depth.

If you want to add background detail make sure you draw right next to the image, I've used Tumbled Glass.

I then use a slightly larger, not quite as dry (but still not wet) brush, and blend outwards.

Here's my finished picture. If you have any question's just ask, click on the email link in my right column. Some of the pictures are a little blurry, but I was using my left hand for this.

I hope this makes sense, these markers are great for colouring, I actually find that I can colour in quicker.

Now for my disclaimer, if you are tempted to buy these, please do not blame me, lol.

Hugs,
